Hearty exercise at Waiouru

Organisers of the event had the students practicing the various rope jumping skills for six weeks before the

date set, which was delayed twice due to bad weather. There were 18 stations, all had different

ways of using a skipping rope and jumping. Teams of 12 children then visited each station in a round robin, spending about 10-15 minutes there before moving on. The teachers agreed that the children had learned a lot about confidence and co-ordina-tion through the event and praised the children who took up the challenge.

Money raised through sponsorship will go to the Foundation with a small percentage going back to the school. All ropes were donated to the school by the Heart Foundation. Over 170 of Waiouru's Primary School students from Standard One through to Form Two jumped for two hours to raise money for the Heart Foundation of New Zealand,
