Log book error an oversight

Lindsay Taylor, 18, driver of Ohakune, pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to note a starting time in his log book when he left Rotorua for Tauranga on 22 August. The log book was produced as evidence. Court heard how defendant, who was a driver for F R Taylor

Holdings Limited of Ohakune, had spent the night in Rotorua and had forgotten to fill in his starting time before leaving in the morning. He was stopped by the MoT only 5 minutes after his departure. Judge Watson complimented defendant on the "exemplary and neat

manner" in which the log-book had been kept up until the date of the offence and said that the omission to log his starting time that morning was obviously no

more than an oversight. Defendant was convicted and fined $200, court costs $85. No period of disqualification was imposed.
