Centennial date for Raetihi un-known
The Waimarino Museum Society is to be asked to research a suitable Raetihi settlement centennial date. The "Waimarino Community Board decided last week that Raetihi' s 100 years of settlement should be celebrated but were unsure of what the date should be. 1892 was thought to be the start of settlement of the area but board chairman Colin Webb quoted two books which gave different dates.
