The last three weeks Ruapehu College has been in a frenzy of activity. Many of the students have been involved in events ranging from the Trustbank Mathematics Competition (Mathex) held in Wanganui, to senior examinations. . The Mathex competition in Wanganui saw 16 Ruapehu College Teams make up the largest contingent from any
school. All up, 64 students, or 22 percent of the school roll, were involved. Tutors from the Taranaki Polytechnic held a number of courses at the College beginning Monday 21 October. These included hairdressing, mechanics and welding. Mrs Manson the organiser, said it was a great success. On Thursday 24 October the Teachers once again attempted to gain victory over the Seventh Form when they were challenged to a friendly game of Hockey. Although the teachers had a definite advantage of two star players, Lyn Fetzer and 'Turf Biter' alias Rick Knight, they were hard pressed to gain any real advantage and the game ended with a two- all draw. Friday 1 November saw the more flexible members of the school
entering into the interwhanau Gymnastics competition.. This was won by Tui. Wishes of good luck are extended to those sitting Sixth Form exams and School Certificate. Fundraising is well under way for the proposed Australian Tour 1992. The College entered the Round the Mountain run and the team is grateful to all those people who sponsored the runners. There is an evening at the Waimarino Golf Club this week promoting self image and a Leather Fashion Show Proceeds to go to the Australian Tour.
