Retaruke slip

A slip at Retaruke that has been moving for three years should be stabilized, according to Ruapehu technical services director Bruce Dobson. In a report to be considered at Wednesday's National Park Community Board meeting, Mr Dobson said the cost of shifting the road at the site is likely to be more than "doing the job adequately in the first case". He estimates the cost of diverting groundwater, which is thought to be causing the slipping, to be between $25,000 and $50,000.
