Kiwis go bush
New Zealanders will have a chance to get into the great outdoors on 2-3 November. The " Go Bush with us" campaign celebrates the New Zealand Mountain Safety Council's 25 th anniversary of promoting outdoor safety. This event is being organised by 30 Mountain Safety District Committees throughout New Zealand. Families and individuals who do not regularly explore the outdoors are especially invited to participate in the activities being organised in their local area. Waimarino Mountain Safety Committee chairperson Richard Milne says this will be the first time the New Zealand Mountain Safety Council has organised simultaneous weekend activities for the public across New Zealand. "It will be a great opportunity for the public to have an enjoyable time and to learn something new from Mountain Safety Instructors and others with outdoor expertise". Activities will be low key, involving many walks around local parks
and walkways, to provide opportunities for people to enjoy the outdoors. Each activity will be lead by an experienced Mountain Safety Council instructor to ensure that people have an enjoyable experience and a safe trip. Participation certificates will be given out at the end of the events. The weekend event has been set up by safety professionals with funding by Hillary Commission for Recreation and Sport, GP Print, Lottery Grants Board and the Accident Compensation Corp oration.
