The Oasis Hotel held the grand finals of pub trivia on Thursday 24 October. All teams in the finals wore costumes representing their team names. At the end of the standard 60 questions about sport, general knowledge and music and entertainment two teams were tied for first place, the following playoffs still did not choose the overall winner until the tenth and final question. Eventually the Mutton Daggers were declared the winners. The team consisted of Vicki and Gary Porteous, Nigel Cox and Ian Shaw. The team put the win down to chance and a penchant for trivial pursuits. Ian Shaw said drinking nonalcoholic drinks also helped by keeping the brains alert. The Mutton Daggers entered the competition half way through the heats. Placings for the competition were: first Mutton Daggers, second Gophers and third Artifacts. Prizes also went to the Ponderosa for best dressed team, The Butchers took the booby prize and Red Eyes took Turnpage9

From page 7 the prize for the most consistent team. Final placings were: Mutton Daggers 36, Gophers 35, Artifacts 34, The Fridge 33, Mals' Malingerers 33, Red Eyes 27, Krypton Factor 26 Lucky Last 25, Firehouse 25, Hugerections 23, Ponderosa 21, Fire Hoses 19 and The Butchers 18.
