Touch rugby

The response to the advertisement in last week's Bulletin for teams for touch rugby has been encouraging for the organising committee in Raetihi. Interest has come from Waiouru, Ohakune and Raetihi in the men's and ladies open and mixed teams, as well as teams for social and business. Families are entering teams, not only brothers, sisters but dads nephews and uncles as well. Many players are not even rugby players. Touch rugby is not quite
the game played by rugby players at rugby practice. It is designed so that the serious can play serious or the fun seekers can have fun. On Sunday some demonstration games will be played at Raetihi rugby grounds between the top Wanganui and Manawatu Champion club teams and Turangi's top club teams. Each club is bringing their open men's, open ladies, mixed and men's masters team. Time will be set aside for any local teams who would like to either play a friendly match amongst themselves or with the visitors.
