The Waiouru Rugby and Netball Club's season has been successful in all respects, according to the club president. The rugby teams had been well organised before the season had started, and the netball teams continued to enjoy themselves and enhance the atmosphere of the club. The club held its end-of-season prizegiving last Saturday. noteable recipients of awards were: rugby senior most valuable player (mvp)
Dwane Rickson; Panthers mvp Ross Butters; Armoured mvp John Barclay; Dirty 30's mvp Henry Hollis; Colts mvp John Robinson; Netball team one mvp Trudy Hullena; Netball team two mvp Tania Robinson; Netball team three mvp Vilma Hape. Club most valuable supporter Matiora Grootiens. The Club's most promising rugby player award went to Patrick Sullivan who gained selection of the Wanganui Colts, the NZ Army Colts, and the NZ Army Senior team. The senior rugby
coach Jim Ward was singled out for special recognition for his efforts as a civilian to work with and around the military way of life to successfully coach the senior team. Long time player and coach Dennis Waru was farewelled from the club.
i he president also acknowledged the support of a small band of dedicated committee members who he said were the backbone of the club. They were; Trudy Hullena, Chris Bath, Doug Boyce, New Wanoa, Doug Walker, Jim O'Carrol and Cathy Gilbert.
