Waiouru indoor bowls

On Tuesday 24 September the Waiouru Indoor Bowling Club held their prize giving and closing night. It was well attended by Ohakune and Taihape clubs and a good time was had by all. This season has been lean for the Waiouru club as they have lost many members through Army postings and redundancies. It is hoped that the new season opening in April next year will see a number of new bowlers. Prizewinners for 1991 were as follows; Championship fours; R Porter, M Whittaker, P Warehinga, R Fels.

Championship triples; R Porter, T Vartha, R Fels. Championship Pairs; R Porter, J Dougan. Mens singles; R Porter. Ladies singles: T Vartha. Junior singles M Whittaker. Open singles; R Porter. President vs Secretary was won by the secretary J Porter. Most improved player was G Fox. Player of the Year is T Vartha. The Waiouru club went on to win Champion of Champion titles at Association level in the pairs, fours, and mens singles. The Club would like to thank SERCO for their sponsorship of the prizegiving.
