Ohakune-Waiouru Badminton clash
Last Thursday night saw Ohakune and Waiouru D grade badminton players doing battle together for their interclub games. Both sides were evenly matched with game scores neck and neck all the way. Some very entertaining games were fought out with some excellent play from both teams. A countback of points was required to determine the eventual winners as both teams had won an even number of games.
Unbelievably the individual points added up to 129 for both teams! The draw was an appropriate result for the evening considering the great competitive spirit and effort in which both teams had played. Results: Mens singles No 1 Stacy CranstonOkn, No 2 Darryn Norling-Okn. Ladies singles No 1 Sonia Phillips-Wir, No 2 Rosemary Wanoa- Wir. Mens Doubles Stacy
Cranston and Darryn Norling-Okn. Ladies Doubles Sonia Phillips and Rosemary WanoaWir. Mixed Doubles No 1 N Cottle and Sonia Phillips-Wir. Mixed Doubles No 2 Darryn Norling and Heather Munn-Okn And though Karlene Hough was unfortunate not to win her games her determined effort in gaining points again st her skilled opposition ensured that her home team was not defeated.
This was the last interclub game for the D Grade this year. Unfortunately not many games were played because of the defaulting of other teams. However D Grade organiser Marie Cranston said that because of the enthusiasm of her team to play more competitive games she is hoping to organise some games with Taumarunui and possibly Turangi before the badminton season ends. /
