Quake derails train

Passengers on the train to Auckland in the early hours of Monday morning were shaken but not unduly concernedwhen the 1.50am earthquake caused the train to derail just north of Ohakune. The train was delayed about three hours while it was put back on the tracks and the rails were checked for damage. A passenger on the train told the Bulletin it felt like a bumpy ride but that they did not realise it was an earthquake at the time. She said the carriage was on a slight lean when it was derailed.
