Recent rugby history
Raetihi continues to foster top players, providing many representative team members as well as a recent player in the Maori All Black team - Steve Gordon. He played in the team in 1990. Thomas Waara, another top Raetihi player, was selected for the New Zealand Youth Team to go to Argentina in 1988 and again in 1990 for the team for the Germany and British Isles tour. Women's rugby is growing fast around the
country and Raetihi is no exception. On Sunday a number of Raetihi players were named to play for the Wanganui rep team. And they hosted the North Wanganui Sub Union game on Sunday, seeing a nilall draw. While the 1991 seniors team may be lacking in player strength, this is said to be something all country clubs face from time to time, and the club is seen to be in good heart, showing good spirit for the future.
