Whakapapa team south

Ten skiers and two coaches from the Whakapapa Ski School Race Programme headed south last week to compete in the South Island Circuit of the N.Z.S.A. National Points Races. The team First visits Mt Hutt and then travels to Queenstown to compete in the Coronet Cup

and Wigley Cup. All team members have been in training since early June and they are all expected to do well. Ruapehu Alpine Lifts have made a major commitment to ski racing with the appointment of two full-time coaches. Head Coach Barry

George has had eight seasons coaching experience and over the years, Barry has built a good relationship with all team members. His professional attitude and dedication to technical excellence has helped the team tremendously. His assistant, Roman Tsuetsch is an ex-Swiss National Ski Team

Member and has been racing all his life, enabling him to relate well to the young racers and help them through difficult times on the road or in training. The team returns to Whakapapa this week to prepare for the Mitsubishi National Ski Championships in September.
