Vandals put end to Raetihi movies

Raetihi will mlss out on movies for some time following a thief's attack on the town's picture theatre screen. Theatre owner and operator Bruce Thompson said a thief broke into the theatre recently and slashed a large hole in the screen. He said he was not sure if it could be repaired and would cost thousands of dollars to replace. The thief, or

thieves, also smashed door locks throughout the theatre and damaged the sound system. Mr Thompson said he would be attempting to repair the screen himself and that it would not be possible to buy a replacement screen. He said until the screen could be repaired, if it could be repaired, Raetihi people would miss out on the usual Friday evening showing.
