Steer butchered
Thieves shot and butchered a cattle beast in a forestry block on Pipiriki Road last week. Only the back steaks were taken from the carcass, the rest being left to rot, said police. The beast, owned by a local farmer, was grazing in the forestry block by lease arrangement between the farmer and the forest owner.
