Haywood romps home in first ski race
The first race of the New Zealand Ski Association Circuit was suc-
cessfully completed at Whakapapa on Sunday 11 August. The Swan Sports Slalom was raced in ideal conditions on the Te Heu Heu Valley race course. In the Women's Event, Annika Haywood from Auckland easily won the race with a combined time of over 6 seconds better than second place getter, Regine Michelet (Ohakune). Hannah Patterson from Auckland narrowly beat Georgie Bremner for third place. In the Men's Event, National Park skier Chris Mosaed just beat Whakapapa local Ben Tidswell with Thomas Jones from Hamilton coming third. The next race in the series at Whakapapa is the Ski Yer Heart Out Slalom and Haensli Cup scheduled for 31 August.
