Actors at Waiouru

Waiouru school children appreciated the talent of three actors from the Electra Performing Company

Their performance of Nga Korero Paku by Rawiri Paratene, consists of three Maori legends; The Rona and

the Moon, Rata and his canoe and The Tui and the Sparrow. The actors spend 20 weeks touring the North Island visiting 400 schools. They started touring in 1986 and through popular demand they decided to make it an annual event. The Electra Performing Company is a self funded company and is based in Hamilton, the employees being professional actors. They have different performances appropriate for the different age groups. The children responded enthusiastically to the performance and enjoyed being able to participate.
