REAP to become incorporated

Taihape/ Ruapehu Reap (Rural Education Activities Programme) is to become an incorporated society soon and will change its name to Ruapehu REAP Incorporated. The new society will receive bulk funding from the Ministry of Education to carry on REAP activities in 1992. The present management committee, chaired by Waiouru principal Tauri Morgan, has prepared a proposed constitution and a strategic plan has been formulated. Individuals and groups have been invited to become foundation members of the REAP society, and are invited to an inaugural meeting on 29 July. At this meeting the constitution will be4presented for verification

and interim officers of the society will be elected. Sometime in September the first annual meeting of the new society will be held. At this meeting the new constitution will be adopted and the new REAP council will be elected. Most of the new REAP Council of 15 members will represent interest groups in the TaihapeWaimarino areas, e.g. primary and secondary teacher interests, Iwi representation, early childhood, Federated Farmers, boards of trustees, and the Army. Three positions are reserved for interested individuals, not representing any groups, and three positions may be filled from interested groups which have not been previously nominated.

The incoming council will not officially take over until 1 January 1992 but will be involved in the changes by working alongside the present management committee. The present committee is Tauri Morgan (Chairperson), Marian Cleaver (Secretary), Lance Nixon (Ministry of Education), Harry Cast (Ruapehu College), Janis Tilyard (Community Resource Centres), Pat Gilbert (Liason Day Rep.), Sandra Browne (NZEI, Taihape), Vera Donnelly (Early Childhood Education), Doug McLean (Raetihi Primary), Neil McNeill (Federated Farmers), Jenny Wiggins (Ruapehu NZEI), and Bruce Osborne (Wanganui Regional Community Polytechnic).
