Taihape bridge trip

On Sunday 31 June several members of the Ohakune Bridge Club

braved the hazardous road conditions and travelled to Taihape to participate in their annual winter tournament. After playing 48 boards against more seasoned players from Marton, Wanganui, Paraparaumu and even one couple from Texas, members were gratified to see Ron Frew and Brian Eades take second place overall. After all that bridge on the week end it was to be expected that everyone would be bridged out and this was* reflected in the attendance on Wednes-

day night. Those who didn't attend missed some very interesting boards of which 20 were played. Brian Eades and Alison McGregor took first place, north-south with 64.17% of a maximum 120. Tani Blackburn and Gabby Mareikura continued their form and took second place with 54.17%. In the EastWest direction, John Eades and Jenny Mottram scored 54.17% for first place and Ron Martin and Tephany Bennett took second place with 50.83%.
