Local logo

Ohakune artist Vince Pakinga has done it again and won a logo design competition. This time he has designed the winning logo for the Manawatu Wanganui Area Health Board (pictured).

The logo symbolises the joining together and unity of the new board, and the Board's concern for the whole health of the community. The theme of joining together former hospital and area health boards to form the ManawatuWanganui Area Health Board is also mirrored in the theme of bringing together a range of health services to provide each of the patients/ clients of the Board with holistic health care. The two Maori motifs (koru) signify the joining together of regions.

The broken lines signify the physical features of the new region i.e., the rivers, mountains, lakes and coastlines. The design blends the two cultures, the Maori motifs recognising Maori aspects of the Board's region and the broken lines recognising the modern, pakeha and multicultural aspects.
