A TV3 news crew records a Turoa electrification item for the six o'clock news recently - at the top of the High Noon T Bar. After finishing the serious bits about electricity reaching 2300 metres the news reader amused onlookers by saying "I wonder if they've got the jug on". Later there was some debate over whether mains electricity makes it to the top of the High Noon, considering the motor is at the bottom. It was decided the statement was true as the safety circuit on the line uses mains electricity albeit 24 volts.
