From page 16 well in the mauls. Dave Morice scored the first points of the game from a penalty. Soon after Malcolm "Budge" Darlison, playing out of his normal position as hooker, "flew" in to score a good try. Both tries were converted by Matt Kena. Shortly after this Matt came off with a knee injury to be replaced by Eddie HaeHae. At half time Helmet Neilson, who had played a solid half, was replaced by Grant Edwards. Pirates fired in the early stages and scored a try. This was soon followed by a very strong run by TK te Kotia who scored a well-deserved try and soon after Grant Edwards did the same. Pirates came back with some good driving play scoring once more. The final try of the match was an excellent run up the side line by Dave Morice who left his opposite number sprawling in the mud. Player of the day was ' TK te Kotia.
Amoured beats Pirates
The Armoured Rugby Team beat Taihape Pirates on Saturday at Taihape 24-8. Their last game of the second round of the Senior Reserve Competition. Pirates launched themselves with vigour into the game and were held in the early stages of the match on Ar-
moured's line. After a short spell, when Ray Turu came off with a damaged knee, the Armoured side settled. TK te Kotia came off the golf course to replace Ray and the team switched into their normal playing pattern with the forwards working Turnpage 10
