Raetihi beat Bulls

Raetihi had its first competition win of the season on Saturday when they convincingly defeated Bulls by 23 points to six. The game was generally open and entertaining and the win was achieved because the Raetihi forwards dominated their opposites in the scrums and lineouts. This domination allowed the Raetihi backs to play better than they have all season. The Raetihi team started well and com-

pletely dominated the first 15 minutes. Lack of discipline from then on by the Raetihi team allowed Bulls to remain in the game. Raetihi props Stuart Ngatai and Tom Rawiri had strong games. They were well supported by number eight Paul Trow, who scored three tries, lock John Binzegger and loosies William McDonnell and Les Parr. Second five Ginger Hall made a difference to the Raetihi backs by getting them to run straight.

Brendan Kavanagh, Cayton Te Moana and Wayne Te Huia also had good games. Michael Hay, Sean Peeti and Shaun Crowley were the pick of the Bulls forwards. Kelvin O'Reiley had a good game on the wing and Roy Robati was sound at halfback. Scorers for Raetihi: tries, Paul Trow 3, Tom Rawiri and Les Parr, Wayne Te Huia a penalty. Bulls, Stuart White a penalty and a drop goal.
