Armoured reserves play Huia

The Armoured rugby tearn played Huia at Taihape on Saturday. This was the fifth game in the second round of the Senior Reserve Competition. Huia were the first to put points on the board with a penalty. Both teams took some time to settle into the match but halfway through the

first spell Mario Ropitini scored a try which inspired the Armoured side to greater effort. At half time the score was 7-4 with Huia having scored a try late in the half. A number of players came off during the break including Johnny Sincock with a broken

nose, Nic Nicholl and Phil Weston. An enthusiastic start to the second half saw the score rise with Matt Kena finding his mark and kicking two penalties. Once the ball got moving along the back line the team settled and Mario Ropitini, Dave Morice and Paul Bone

ided to the score with tries two of which were converted by Matt Kena. In the last few minutes a Huia player was taken off after good defensive play thwarted another Armoured try. The final score was 26-12 to Armoured. Johnny Sincock was named player of the day.
