Truck parking solution

Twelve months after requesting something be done about the trucks parking on the grass on the intersection of State Highways One and 49, Transit New Zealand has approved the remedy. Work to rectify the problem can be carried out by the Ruapehu District Council, funded from the subsidised roading account, the Waiouru Community Board heard at their last meeting. The board was told any work carried out by the "council to remedy the sit'uation would need TNZ approval.

The proposed solution would involve: prohibiting trucks parking outside the Shell Service Station; preventing trucks from

parking on the traffic island; and creating a truck parking area on the vacant land opposite the camp ground, between SH49&SH1.
