Ski radio on in July

Ruapehu's winter radio station is due to grace the airwaves at the end of next month, on 26 July. The station will be based in Ohakune as in most past years, after the operators tried a season based in Turangi in 1990. There will again be two FM transmitters, one for the Waimarino

side of Ruapehu and one for Whakapapa listeners, and the station will link with Radio 2QQ from Palmerston North when not live on air. Last year the station linked with Taupo's Radio Lakeland. A staff of four to five will again be led by station manager Mark Thompson.
