Bigger, brighter better ski hire
ln conjunction with the electrif ication Turoa has expanded their ski hire nearly ten-fold and bought 1000 sets of skis, boots and poles. Earlier in the year Turoa's Lockwood ski hire building was moved from its Clyde Street site to a newly excavated site behind where the old ticket office used to be. This building now houses the new ski hire as well as the new ticket offices along one outside wall. The old mountain ski hire was about 30
square metres, and the new one is about 240 square metres, allowing the setting up of what is thought to be the second biggest ski hire in the country. The 1000 sets of Atomic skis, from 80cm children's skis to 200cm executive hire skis, all carry Turoa's own cosmetics. 1000 sets of new Salomon and Koflach boots fill in the boot room which is served by a large boot fitting area. The two brands cover the range of New Zealand feet, with Salomon one of the most popular boots for Kiwis and a Koflach model specif ically
designed for Kiwi feet. Ski hire supervisor Graham Lind said they plan to have four to five people fitting boots, with one person helping first timers to put on their ski boots. About six people will be fit skis. Also new is a fully equipped workshop with crystal glide machine, which will offer full ski tune services. Also new is an expanded mountain ski shop.
