Ohakune Bridge
There was a good turnout for Bridge on Wednesday 5 June. The president Brian Eades started the evening by welcoming a visitor, Olga Sourery to the Club and also welcomed back several local members. An uneven number of pairs meant that the North -South pairs played 21 boards while the East-West pairs played 18. The North South pair of Lauretta Eades and Pauline Le Noel scored 124 out of a possible 210 to take first place with 59.04%. Second were Tracy Ennis and Les Burns 55.23% and third place went to Ron Frew and his partner with 107 points (50.95%. Mark Hays and Bob Tumateroa took first place, East West with 113 points from a possible 180 (62.77%). Rita Kaiwhare and Betty Hammond had 99 points (35%) for second place, while John Eades and Olga Sourery took third place with 52.22%, 94 points. Twenty eight people turned up for Bridge on Tuesday night, 24 locals and four visitors from the Taihape Bridge Club. Jerry Cranston and Janene Oates proved to be the best partnership on the night to finish first north-south with 163 points, 64.68 per cent of a possible 252 points. 53.57% (135) while Pauline Le Noel and Lauretta Eades were six points behind on 51.19% to take third place. The competition EastWest was a lot closer with only nine points separating first and third place getters. First were Rita Kaiwhare and Betty Hammond with 55.56% (140 points). Second was the partnership of Jim Cranston and Tephany Bennett with 52.38% (132 pts) while just one point behind with 51.98% were Colin and Bev Cox.
