Public meetings were held recently to select service/client members for each committee to represent the areas of Palmerston North, Manawatu, Wanganui, Rangtitikei, Horowhenua and Tararua. Nominations are now being sought for people to represent service providers on each of the committees. Service provider members of the committees will represent the public, private and voluntary sectors of health and health-related services. There will be three service provider members on each committee. The role of the committees, as set out in their terms of reference is: a. to provide independent advice to the Board on their area of interest; b. to consider and advise on policies referred by the Board to ensure that they are appropriate to their area of interest, and to identify what impact, if any, they will have on them; c. to advocate the health and needs of their area of interest to the Board, and to relate these to the Board's business plan and the national health charter. Agencies, groups and individuals (including Board staff) are invited to submit nominations for each of tbe above committees. Nominations should be in writing and include information on the nominee's experience and expertise relevant to a designated Advisory Committee.
