Raetihi Pharmacy Assistant wins area prize
Stephanie Rogers has been chosen as one of three finalists in the Central Districts junior section for the Pharmacy Assistant of the Year. Stephanie was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a toiletry gift box at a dinner function in Hawera on Wednesday 24 April. Stephanie has been employed at Price's Pharmacy in Raetihi since September 1990 and has the support of her boss Lynette Price. "I am delighted for Stephanie, she has done a great job," said Mrs Price. "It is a great honour to be selected as she is competing against some who have been working in pharmacies for up to three years." There were 11 entrants in the junior section of the Central Districts competition which extends from Levin, Palmerston North, Wanganui including the Waimarino to New Plymouth and Waitara. Entrants had to answer multi-choice questions and three written questions of no more than 50 words to test their knowledge of products and medicines and how to handle certain situations that they may come across. Junior entrants then had to write no more than 500 words about 'what are some personal qualities which are essential to perform your role as a pharmacy assistant'. The answers were judged by a panel. Central Districts is one of seven districts in the country. From the three semi-finalists in each region one will be chosen to go on to the National Finals in Auckland on 21 June. Semi-finalists now have to answer another questionnaire by 31 May to choose the finalist.
