New Mill Tanker

'The Winstonian' rolled into Karioi for the first time recently, carrying its first load of hydrogen peroxide for the Karioi pulp mill. The tanker and its tractor unit have been built to deliver the bleaching chemical to the plant from the manufacturers, Du Pont New Zealand Ltd, at Morrinsville. Du Pont have recently won the contract to supply the mill. Previously it was supplied from Australia but supply

problems had been experienced. The tanker was built by Mercer Stainless Ltd of Rotorua to a Canadian design, adapted to New Zealand conditions. The tanker and its tractor unit, an Erf truck, incorporate many special safety features. The tanker, operated by Fluidex Transport Limited, is expected to make two trips a day when the pulp mill is bleaching pulp. This occurs approximately one third of its operating time through the vear.
