Waimarino shooter in top NZ team

Waimarino's John Dempsey was in this years winning Glenn Cup team. New Zealand won the Glenn cup beating Australia 117-114 at the Australian National Clay Target Championships at the Perth Gun Club recently. This year's win by New Zealand was the

first since 1984 and the first in Australia. The cup is shot for annually by six member teams from New Zealand and Australia at either the New Zealand or Australian Nationals. The New Zealand team was John Dempsey (Waimarino) Zelda McClure (Waitamata) Gavin Brears (Taumarunui) Paul Hill (Levin) Ross truss

and Brain Carroll (Rotorua). Mr Demspey has recently returned from Perth where he was one of eight New Zealanders competing in the Australian Nationals which involved nine days of competition during the middle of April. Mr Dempsey was unsuccessful in the individual competitions.
