Hamilton reunion for ex local folk

By popular demand the third reunion of former Waimarino residents will be held on Hamilton on 1 1 May. This follows two previous highly successful similar functions held in 1985 and 1989. Well over 200 attended each time. The reunion is to be held in the evening at the Claudelands Showgrounds starting at 5.30pm. The format will be a 'Happy Hour' followed by a dinner and dance. The orchestra are all ex-members of former Waimarino dance bands. Originally organised for ex-residents living in the Waikato interest was such that an open invitation was extended to anyone interested in attending. People have attended from as far afield as Auckland, Tauranga, Napier and Wanganui. There have also been the odd one or two from both Raetihi and Ohakune. There will be a display of old Waimarino photos also various newspaper cuttings from both the Wanganui Chronicle and Ruapehu Bulletin relating to interesting incidents of the past. These displays have always revived memories and created popular talking subjects. The 'visitor's book used at the last two reunions will again be in circulation. Any per-

son interested in attending should contact Tony Donnelly 25 Lachlan Drive, Hamilton or phone 071-476892.
