Helpers Margaret and Jim Bennett, Jan and Bob Lamb and Warren Marumaru barbecued the sausages, donated by Top Hat, for the children. William Tan has recently completed the trip from Wellington to Auckland in his wheelchair to raise funds for the Childhood Diabetes Prevention Research Programme. William left Wellington on 3 April and arrived in Auckland on 24 April. Paul MacDonald and Ian Ferguson olympic rowers have also been trav-

elling the country visiting and talking to as many schools as possible. Unfortunately none of them were able to visit Raetihi or Ohakune. Money raised through this project will be used to research childhood diabetes and it is hoped that all five year old children will be tested for the disease.
