Raetihi business questionaire
From page 1 they would then pay low rentals in the new complex. • If such an investment group was set up it would need 100 per' cent support from local businesses and any interested private investors such as farmers. Finally would your business be prepared to invest in the project over 10 years with the prospect of setting up a new complex within three to five years. * The idea of the questionnaire is to get people to think and become motivated about the future, said organisers. Members of the committee are happy to talk to people or groups
about their suggestions. The promotions group hopes to change the attitudes of business people and feels that they can't afford not to invest in the future. They feel an investment group could get enthusiasm going in the town and help assist new business with advice or help to finance an existing business. Raetihi was established 80-90 years ago and some businesses, mainly due to the old and dilapidated buildings, have got the same concept of display, according to spokesperson John Dobson. "The town is at a crossroads and needs to
reassess things that have gone in the past and to start thinking positively for the future," said Mr Dobson. "Businesses need to say 'if I'm not doing well why not?'"
"With the possibility of the new meat works starting and if the promotion of Raetihi goes ahead it will create enthusiasm and security for each other," said Mr Dobson.
