Gardeners donate shrubs
Raetihi Garden Club is to donate $250 worth of shrubs to the Raetihi community. Shrubs are to be
planted at the Playcentre, Preschool, hospital, and pensioner flats with specimen trees to be planted outside
Bennetts Furnishers in Ward Street. Last spring members of the garden club pruned and sprayed the roses at the Raetihi cemetery and in appreciation the Ruapehu District Council made a donation of $250 which is being put back into the community. This was decided at the monthly meeting of the Raetihi Garden Club held at Locheen Punch's home on 18 April. Earlier in the month garden club members helped plant 100 daffodil bulbs at Jo Nutting's home. These are to be used for cancer awareness daffodil day in
August. On this day the Cancer Society sell the daffodils to raise funds and promote cancer awareness. Results of the monthly points prize were: 1 Lynley Graham, 2 Helen Wiggins 3 Keitha Journeaux. The Garden Club is to hold its Annual General Meeting on 30 May a week later than usual because of the school holidays. This meeting is a pot luck lunch starting at 11.30am at Dorothy Scarrow's Valley Road home. New members are welcome. For further details contact Locheen Punch 54 526 or Lynley Graham 54 234.
