New Plunket car
Last week Carol Harford, Waimarino's Plunket Nurse, took possession of her new Plunket car bought from Dave Scott of Wanganui Motors. The car needs to be replaced every four years as during that time 40,000km are covered making home visits to mothers and their young babics and the weekly clinics at Raetihi and Ohakune. This last year Mrs Harford has also been working part time in Waiouru. This has been made possible by the fundraising efforts of the Raetihi and Ohakune sub-branches which together make up the Waimarino Branch of Plunk :t. Over the last four years the Ohakune committee have been involved in such activities as fun runs, quiz "nights, cakestalls and raffles while the Raetihi committee have concentrated more on catering sweet and cake stalls and candy floss. As well as these and many other activities the two groups
have worked together on many occasions doing sausage sizzles face painting and running stalls at shop days and shows. Another fundraising event was the evening with Alison Holst held last winter. Last year Raetihi branch ran a Bride of the Year evening, the
proceeds of this were used to buy new electronic scales for the Raetihi Clinic. As well as buying a new car every four years the two sub-branches through the Waimarino branch pay the running costs for the cars of both the plunket and karitane nurse.
