Plunket & MOT check car seats

Members of Ohakune and Waiouru's subbranches of Plunket worked with traffic officers to run a survey on child restraints last week in the two towns. The Ohakune group stopped cars coming along Goldfinch Street between 3.15pm4.15pm on Friday. Cars were stopped and note was made of the number of children and child restraints and if the restraints were being used properly.

Waiouru's survey was conducted near the kindergartens. The survey was part of 'Operation Car Restraint Week' being promoted by Plunket and the Ministry of Transport during 8 - 14 April. The Raetihi subbranch of Plunket have infant and child retraints available for hire. These are available for a small bond and rental. The co-ordinator for this is Nita Weir who can be contacted on 54600.
