Third time for Waimarino rally

Joe McAndrew driving a Mazda 323 won the Webb Toyota Car Rally run in the Waimarino on Saturday 6 April.

Of the 44 cars that started 10 withdrew at various stages including top drivers Ray Wilson of Auckland at stage five, and Lewis Scott in stage two. The local team of Alan and Graeme Murdie withdrew during stage two with a broken radiator hose and blown head gasket. This is the third year that the Wellington Car Club have run their rally on Waimarino roads. Webb's garage was the headquarters for the rally. results for each stage were out moments after

the last car had checked in. Scrutineering of the cars was held at Ruapehu Motors between 6pm and 10pm on Friday
