An empty classroom on Thursday April 4 will benef it your child's education. The Government's proposed Employment Contracts Bill means losing our national standard of education. No longer will our children get the same high standard of education, no matter where we live. And that's why teachers and other workers in education, including childcare workers, caretakers and cleaners are taking industrial action on Thursday April 4. Under the Bill, there may be no national awards for teachers or education workers. Now that could be fine for a few Boards of Trustees, who can raise enough money to pay some of their teachers and education workers extra. But most schools will be struggling even to stay at the same level. Those in rural and low income areas may have to take money from somewhere else, say cleaning or special education, in order to compete. Or hire inexperienced or unqualified staff. If your child is in one of these schools, he or she may end up at serious risk. On Thursday April 4 we seek changes to the Employment Contracts Bill that could save your child's education. Please give us your understanding and support.
