Preschool remodelled
For the first four weeks of this term the children at the Raetihi Preschool worked in the foyer of the school hall as the Junior Block is being remodelled. The first rooms to be remodelled were Preschool and New Entrants. "The children found it very disruptive in the foyer especially when it was wet and also as they still came over to use the preschool play area," said teacher Lyn Pope On 4 March the preschoolers moved into their remodelled room.
"It is much more functional than before. The new sliding doors out to the play area make all the difference. When the play area was designed and planted two years ago it was done with the remodelling in mind." said Mrs Pope. The verandah roof still has to be finished and when it is done it will be possible to have outdoor play even when it is wet. There are 15 children attending each session with a waiting list of 35 this means that children are nearly four when they start preschool.
