Board urged to make rates views known

Ruapehu' s mayor and deputy mayor urged the Waimarino Community Board to look at the rating issue and make recommendation to the council as soon as possible. Garrick Workman and Weston Kirton made the comments to the board at their last meeting, saying that once the council had set the rates it would be too late.

Board members asked for the necessary information and Mr Workman said they were entitled to such information and should go ahead and request it, which they did. "The doors are not closed on the issue," said Mr Workman. "There is a lot of calculating to do before the rates are struck."
