College commitment

Cast • Education is more than books and classroom activity, it is also about experience and opportunities. With the many changes in education over the last ten years, Colleges and Primary schools are far different to their equivalent institutions of 10 years ago.

At a secondary school we have to balance the need for academic progress with offering the students an increasingly wider range of sporting, social and cultural opportunities. In offering activities outside the classroom we have provide worthwhile learning opportunities and yet cater for a youth who are jaded or who have unrealistic

expectations due to the images coming into their lives from videos and/or television. Our aims for 1991 are as follows: To build on the steady academic progress being made over recent years (as can be seen in the School Certificate and Bursary results). We hope to broaden the range of experiences offered to students, already we have a

degree of success in triathlons and hope to have a school group going to Les Miserables. College staff were looking forward to a year of consolidation but unfortunately the proposed series of changes to the labour laws and the move to bulk funding will cause further uncertainty.
