Pre-pay power
More interest is being shown in the King Country Electric Power Board's pre-payment options, the February board meeting was told. The board offers two pre-payment options-a larger discount for annual electricity accounts paid in advance and special card meters which require pre-paid cards to operate. Other new tariff options are continued to be promoted, including weekend saver and bulk saver tariffs. Pipe loop power savings Tests show more than
120 units of electricity a year per unit can be saved by fitting vent pipe loops to existing hot water cylinders. This results on a saving of $7 on present domestic tariffs and more than $14 on nondomestic tariffs. While individual savjigs do not appear large, the real benefit comes from an overall reduction in electricity wasted, according to King Country Electric Power Board's marketing engineer Ron Rhodes. The test results were reported to the February KCEPB meeting.
Power Super Most King Country Electric Power Board staff think employers should contribute to staff superannuation schemes. In a survey of board staff carried out on behalf of the Electricity Supply Association of New Zealand (ESANZ) it was found more than 70 per cent do contribute to the board super scheme. Of those who responded, 28 of the 38 think the employer has a role in assisting saving according to a report tabled at the February board meeting.
