Rangataua Sewerage

• Isn't it incredible, I remember about two years ago a certain number of councillors rushed ahead to put sewerage into Rangataua. They came up with a number of reasons why is should go ahead, the main one being the number of septic tanks that were in Rangataua and that they were or would cause health hazards in the future. Since the sewerage has gone in we have a situation where a certain pump station namely Kaka, Marino St intersection keeps breaking

down. And I might add has been breaking down for months so we end up with a discharge of waste water etc into the main drain in Marino St which would be about 15 metres from one house and passes about 20-30 metres from others. Not to mention the access that children have to play in this drain, now if this is not a health hazard I don't know what is. Maybe we could put the boot on the other foot and bring the health department in to check it out. I also hear by the grapevine that the pumps at this station are too small and can't handle the job and could be replaced by bigger ones, and if they don't work the whole section of pipeing will have to be re-alined. We of Rangataua have already had to bail the Ruapehu District Council out for one of their "balls ups" (re sewerage loan). I wonder who will have to pay this one. Not us I hope. Last, but not least regarding the interest charged on outstanding sewerage accounts that were "never" received, I find that this charge is approximately 15%. If we had invested our money over the 12 months (to quote the mayors words) we would not be out of pocket now. Well Mr Mayor I did invest my money and there was no way I could get 15% but only 10%. So I suggest to you to go to the certain Turnpage 7

LETTERS

From page 6 gentleman that made the original blunder and is probably on $70,000 to $80,000 a year to do the job properly, and get the other 5% from him. For I'm sure as hell not going to pay it. Now lets have a fair go because if we don't I'm sure there's a programme on TV that would be interested to see we do.
