Fun runners called this weekend
Sunday 3 March is Ohakune Plunket fun run time again - "so grab your running shoes, those 'go-faster sfrorts' and all the extra puff you can muster and join in the fun" - that's the message from the Plunket parents.
Start time for the run is 10am and registration is at 9.30am at the Big Carrot. Participants can choose a short four kilometre course or a
longer 8km course, both meandering about the town. All ages arq welcome and there will be prizes in all sections. Entry fee for adults is $2.00 and children of primary school age is $1.00. Organisers are to provide water stops throughout the course and free drinks at the finish (orange juice of course!). "You are quite welcome to walk, run and walk, push your baby in a pushchair, or run together as a team," said one of the event organisers, Kath Craig. "It is a 'fun run.' " Children are asked to wear suitable shoes and not to wear too many clothes. Both courses are tar sealed all the way and there will be a traffic officer on duty at the
main road corners. "Keep well over to the side of the road while running," said Ivlrs Craig. "Preferably run towards the direction of the traffic, so 'stay right', but run on the footpath where there is one." A prize giving an lolly scramble will be held at the end of the run at the start/finish area by the carrot. "So families, workmates, sportsmen and women, boys and girls, come along and enjoy the action. What a great way to spend your Sunday morning - don't be a lounge lizzard or a couch potato any longer - this is your golden opportunity. Start training with a few light jogs now," said Mrs Craig.
