Board endorses energry conservation

A major advcrtising campaign proposed by the Electricity Supply Association of New Zealand promoting energy conservation has the backing of the King Country Electric Powcr Board. The campaign may not yet go to air- a special meeting has been called for February 7 in Wellington to discuss the issue. Board members confirmed that they support ihe concept of

energy conservation. "Conservation is the track we should go down," said Gordon Gower, while Tony Palmer said ihe board should look at what business it was in. "Are wc sclling powcr or are we sclling conservation and powcr? I think we've got to be selling both. Bill Peach said if New Zealanders do not do something about energy conservation by the year 2007 thcy will be paying a lot of money for power.
