Raetihi bowlers take Simonsen cup
On Tuesday 18 December a team of Raetihi women ventured to Wanganui to challenge for the Simonsen Cup against Helmore Park, Wanganui East. With members low in numbers, Raetihi's chances were rated low, but with determination and team effort by everyone they managed a well-eamed 23-13 win. Raetihi won the first eight ends on a very fast and windy green, leaving Helmore Park perplexed, but Helmore Park fought back and reached an even score half way through the game. Kceping to the long ends, where the wind played havoc on
the draw, Helmore park could not match the team spirit and effort put in by the Raetihi side. With the skip 'saving the day' towards the end of the game, Helmore Park conceded defeat, leaving one end still to be played. Elated by their win, they now have to prepare themselves for their next challcngesTaihape on Friday 21. Raetihi Team: SkipRobin Scarrow 3- Linda Sattler 2- Diane Martin
