Whanganui Park water probably not safe
Whanganui National Park visitors have been advised to boil their drinking water. Whanganui Department of Conservation field centre manager John Lythgoe said there had been no reported cases of giardiasis from park water but that it was better to be wary of the park water and be on the safe sidc. He said it was a sad fact of life that in the next year or two there may be no water safe to drink in the wild. He said New Zealand was losing something very important to back country people in not being able to drink the water in wild places. Giardia has been found in parts of Tongariro and Able Tasman national parks. L
